Workspace almost doubles its headcount

Workspace Design & Build has almost doubled its headcount as it continues with its growth plans.

The fit-out contractor, which runs operations from just underneath Manchester’s highest roof garden in Manchester One, has appointed six staff members in as many weeks.

John Vipond has joined from ADT as contracts manager, Mike Likeman is now site manager after previously working for AJR Construction, while administrator Emma Farrell is due to start in January.

It comes after Mike Gates and Stevie Jones joined the company before Christmas.

Managing director Russell Davis said the raft of appointments reflects the current optimistic feeling within Workspace going into 2016.

“We have almost doubled our headcount in the past six months,” he said. “We now employ 16 full-time staff in total which is great.

“It’s important to mention that we are bringing in well-known people within the industry that we work in.

“It will help us further progress our team and work with contracts that we have already won.”

The appointments also come after Workspace invested in a dedicated business development team to capitalise on the raft of migrating firms since the recession.

The company also moved into Manchester One in 2015 after working alongside property partner Bruntwood to renovate the 21st floor.
