Workspace Design & Build Strengthens Leadership Team With Two New Directors

We are thrilled to announce we have promoted David Barnett to Finance Director and Matt Burrow to Construction Director.

David joined Workspace Design & Build in 2025 as Associate Finance Director, bringing more than 20 years’ experience as a qualified Chartered Accountant and over a decade in the property sector. Since joining, he has led a transformation project to improve financial reporting, forecasting and controls. This has increased the quality and visibility of financial information available to the leadership team, supporting greater financial discipline and commercial insight in business decisions.

David began his career in audit and has worked across retail, pharmaceuticals, oil and energy, and property and construction. Throughout his career, he has advised boards, leadership committees and project teams.

Matt joined the business in early 2025 as Pre-Construction Manager, bringing more than 30 years’ experience across the construction industry, including senior operational, commercial and management roles. Since joining, he has strengthened the pre-construction function by improving team structure, communication, accountability and operational efficiency, while helping develop a more collaborative and commercially focused approach. He has also played an important role in the successful delivery of Wigan Civic and other projects.

As Construction Director, Matt will focus on strengthening the link between pre-construction and operations, developing the wider team, improving project delivery and maintaining a consistent, high-quality service for clients.

Russell Davis, Managing Director at Workspace Design & Build, said: “David and Matt have each made a significant contribution to the business. David has strengthened our financial reporting and commercial insight, while Matt has built a stronger pre-construction function and improved the connection between planning and project delivery. Their experience and leadership will help us continue to develop the business and deliver for our clients.”

Laura Peters is stepping down as Director after more than eight years with the company, while Lauren Hart is leaving her role as Marketing Director. Both are leaving to focus on their growing families as they prepare to welcome new additions.

Russell further commented “I’d also like to thank Laura and Lauren for their hard work and contribution to Workspace Design & Build. We wish them and their growing families all the very best for the future.”

Commenting on his appointment, Matt said: “I’m delighted to take on the role of Construction Director. Having worked in the industry for over 30 years, I’ve learnt that successful projects are built around good people, clear communication, teamwork and accountability. We’ve already made some positive changes, but there is plenty more to achieve. I’m looking forward to working closely with the team, building on the foundations we’ve established and helping drive the business forward.”
