Workspace delighted to partner with Tackle4MCR

Workspace Design & Build are delighted to support Tackle4MCR, a joint initiative between Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, and the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, to address rough sleeping and homelessness on the streets of Greater Manchester.

After moving our offices to the centre of Manchester, the issue of homelessness was something that we were exposed to on a daily basis. Manchester as a city has given Workspace Design & Build new clients, new friends and a large pool of potential new business. This is why we felt it was important to give something back.

Homelessness is a critical issue that is facing Greater Manchester. With levels above those of the national average, Andy Burnham founded ‘A Bed Every Night’ scheme which aims to offer rough sleepers protection from the elements this winter.

To support this scheme, we attended the Tackle4MCR Gala Dinner at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel on 4th February, hosted by Gary Lineker. We were honoured to invite some of our close business connections and clients so they could see just how passionately the people of Manchester feel about ending homelessness in the city, and allowing them to contribute in any way they could.

With performances from Noel Gallagher, beatboxing band Duke and international hip-hop star DJ Yoda, the event raised over £216,000 for the Tackle4MCR fund. It was truly heart-warming to see so many famous faces come together to support such a complex problem across Greater Manchester.

The crucial funds raised during a memorable night for Manchester will go to the Mayor of Greater Manchester’s ‘A Bed Every Night’ campaign. Seeing the city truly united for such an amazing event is something we will never forget – and it’s worth mentioning that both Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola and Manchester United Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer both attended. An event that will certainly go down in history.

To see so many people come together to raise such an incredible amount of money showed solidarity across Manchester, and this was just the first step in a huge movement in ending what is such a prevalent issue across our city.

As well as our work with Tackle4MCR we also organised a 11-a-side football game with Bruntwood in order to raise more funds for this great cause. Our team absolutely loved taking part despite being beaten on the day and we were able to raise £1,245!

We have so many more exciting initiatives coming up as part of Vincent’s Testimonial Year. Football Fridays will be taking place in Spring and the Gala Football Match will be hosted at the famous Etihad Stadium, following the close of the 2018/2019 Premier League season.

Keep your eye on our website and our social media pages for more information on how you can get involved with this incredible scheme. You can also visit the Tackle4MCR website for more information on this cause and to keep an eye on what Tackle4MCR events are coming up.
